The About-Me Blog: My OpenLife v 1.0 PDF Print E-mail

I was asked the other day what my status in my MySpace profile meant, "going public." I thought that it was appropriate since I finally got this web site off the ground. More I think of it, though, an innumerable parts of my life have been out there in the public eye via the Internet. Social networking sites like del.icio.us, Digg, MySpace, Facebook, and Last.fm have taken over my life and they are demanding that I make public a varying amount of personal data as well as write some classy, yet humorous, and intelligent summary about myself. As if a single sentence or paragraph could really sum up an individual. Reminds me of those interview questions: "if you can sum yourself up in one word, what would it be?" How can I limit my entire existence to one word, let alone, 256 characters?

All this daily social networking rituals, beyond divulging the intimate details of my life, can get a bit overwhelming. Check MySpace, Facebook, Digg daily but don't forget YouTube, del.icio.us, Pownce, Stumbeupon, Last.fm, Musicovery, Florida DnB, Drum and Bass Forum, and the list of sites have become numerous enough where maintaining them is nearly irritating. But the biggest sticking point, is that damn about-me section.

The Slip: Newest album by Nine Inch Nail available by FREE DOWNLOAD courtesy of Trent ReznorMay 7, 2008 - The freedom is intoxicating. The independence is liberating. The accountability makes both that much more special.

Freed from the constraints of "traditional" recording contracts, Trent Reznor has established himself as THE artist most technologically in tune with today's music fans. So Monday's announcement that Nine-Inch Nails' latest release, The Slip, was available totally free as a download in multiple formats may have come as a surprise, but only because of the timing. The fact that the album is as good as it is only serves to further validate what Reznor is doing.

Replay: Langerado 2008 PDF Print E-mail

5th Annual Langerado Music Festival at Big Cypress Seminole Reservation FLAAt the very first Langerado, my friends and I were also friends with band members who opened - Hashbrown. I remember them playing at a house party in the back of the 'Ghetti (that is with and "i" and not and "o.") Just like the old college days, my friends and I jammed out in support of our rockin' brothers. Playing hacky-sack. Dancing like a fool. Times never to forget. My good friend Ari made a bootleg Hashbrown t-shirt that I wore at that show. I don't exactly remember a completely positive reaction when J (bassist, Hashbrown) saw me with the shirt, but hell, how can you really complain about a loyal follower who is spreading the word of the Hashbrown?

Not to be distracted from my main point, Langerado was a one day festival with multiple stages in one of the worst venues within 25 miles of me - Pompano Beach. Who'd have thought that Langerado would bloom into an all-out attraction that featured a diverse and numbered line-up that included the Beastie Boys, 311, The Roots. G Love and Special Sauce. And those people are just some of the acts on Friday. For all the Dead fans, Ratdog, headed by Bob Weir, also performed.
