One of my two Showtime favorites will be back on the air Monday, June 16, 2008 at 10pm EST. Weeds, now in its 4th season, shifts into a new direction with a broader perspective into the drug underworld. Season 4 will diverge away from small-time suburban pot cultivation and dealing to the larger and more dangerous world of international drug trafficking. From the burning "little boxes" of suburban Agrestic at season 3's end to the Mexican-California border, Nancy Botwin (played by Mary-Louise Parker) relocates her family and her black market operations with guidance from Mexican drug-lord Guillermo (played by Half-Baked star Guillermo Diaz). Weeds Season 4 is slated for 13 episodes.
According Entertainment Weekly's Summer TV: Preview 23 Shows Arriving in June, Weeds Season 4 will center around the Mexican-US border. With border security being a hot topic in the current election cycle, Weeds will contrast the seriousness surrounding border issues, like drug smuggling, illegal immigration, and corruption, while simultamously making you laugh and shake your head in disbelief. |

Back in 2006, I spent a month island hopping in the tiny island nation of Vanuatu. In search of the south Pacific's best kava and to strengthen bonds with Nakava's distant kava suppliers, I enjoyed one of the most memorable and exciting adventures of my life. The lush jungles, warm and inviting sun, cool ocean breezes, and kind, island hospitality left a deep imprint upon me. Even before I set foot on those islands, somehow I felt a kinship.
During my second week in Vanuatu, I traveled with kava guru and owner of Nakava, Jeffrey Bowman, to the outer island of Pentecost. Pentecost Island is the farthest I could have ever imagined myself to be away from modern day western civilization. The airport runway was nothing but a grass landing strip between rocky black sand beaches and sharp peaks that dramatically rose from the depths of the ocean. |

I have listened to several podcasts produced and mixed by Rocdollar for the Digital Soundboard drum and bass podcast. I can't say it is a weekly podcast, because lately Rocdollar has released several in a week. Most recently releasing 7 in two days. I'm hooked on the very first release in that wave.
Three words: energetic, grinding, sensual. Good for the gym, a run, late night driving, and after dinner drinks.
My Current Playlist is Rocdollar's DS125 mix for the Digital Soundboard drum and bass feed. This mix was produced live for drum and bass streaming radio BassDrive.com on June 1, 2008.

Pendulum released their second full length album, "In Silico" on May 12, 2008. Their latest release steers the band into a new direction from their previous album in 2005, "Hold Your Colour." The drum and bass heavy "Hold Your Colour" has been followed by the rock heavy "In Silco." While having less drum and bass feel, bassheads will be pleased with the diversity and depth Pendulum brings forth in this album. Plenty of funky, hard hitting bass lines are to be had but be prepared to do some good old head banging to some very edgy rock riffs.
Pendulum's sound on "Hold Your Colour" was marked by many uplifting, jazz and soul orientated tones. This is where the distinctive sound of "In Silco" contrasts most with its predecessor: darker and edgier. This divergence in sound, broadens their appeal to rockers and bassheads alike. And tracks like "The Tempest" are straight-up rock. |
