When I was growing up, my mother was a chronic crossword puzzler. She was the only one I knew until I moved away from the college that played the crossword. It was not until I worked atBennigan's did I even attempt a crossword.
During the mind-numbing hours of boredom between lunch and dinner shifts, a group of us would sit around and finish the crossword. Yeah, so what? It really did take a group of us to finish a crossword in the Sun Sentinel. But from then on, I had a certain fondness for crossword puzzles.
For the last few years, I play the easy crossword puzzle in the City Link. Yesterday I started the crossword, while I ate some dinner at the kava bar. I began the usual way of skimming through the clues and completing the ultra-easy ones.
It didn't take too long for me to notice that crossword wasn't quite right. The first three across clues were numbers 1, 5, and 10, but in the puzzle the first three across answers were numbered 1, 5, and 8. WTF?!?!
I really thought it was a misprint and they mixed up the numbering. And I knew that 18 across was "Allan" not "Alan" as in Edgar Allan Poe. (My best friend growing up in Detriot is related to the late, great Edgar Allan Poe.) Upon further inspection of the crossword, I realized that there was 75 clues but only 70 answers. I had to go the answers to validate that the grid wasn't matching my clues. And sure enough, City Link's crossword was screwed up!
Too bad for you City Link. You have spoiled the one piece of marketing that encouraged me to pick and read the City Link.

Sierra Leone's Refugee All-Stars performed among a long line-up of music greats at the 5th Annual Langerado Music Festival. The festival took place at the Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation in Florida.
Langerado took place March 6-9, 2008. Sierra Leone's Refugee All-Stars performed in the early evening on the Everglades Stage on Friday, March 7. Their performance took place during G Love and Special Sauce Performance, which was followed the Roots, the Beastie Boys closed the night on the main stage.
